Elephant Sands is set on a vast 6,000-hectare private conservancy in Botswana, where wildlife roams freely across unfenced land. The lodge features a main area with 38 rooms, including tented accommodations, chalets, and a spacious campsite, offering guests an authentic wilderness experience.
The lodge is entirely solar-powered to minimize its carbon footprint, limiting the use of high-energy appliances, so rooms do not offer air conditioning or heavy electrical devices. Water is sourced from a borehole 14 kilometers away and pumped daily to the lodge. The natural waterhole in front of the lodge is completely rain-fed—Elephant Sands does not have enough water to fill it on its own and is restricted to pumping a limited amount to supplement it.
To prioritize local wildlife, especially elephants, the lodge turns off water supplies to guest areas at 10 pm each night to ensure elephants drink primarily at the waterhole. With no fences, animals roam freely through the property, and guests are advised to be cautious. The lodge provides shuttle services and charging points are available at the main lodge.
The restaurant is staffed by three dedicated teams led by three passionate head chefs. Dinner is served as a buffet with a variety of options that change each night, designed to delight guests. Lunch is a smaller à la carte menu featuring home-style comfort food made with love and creativity. The chefs constantly innovate, ensuring fresh and flavorful dining experiences reflecting the warmth and authentic hospitality of Elephant Sands.
The bar features three talented bartenders ready to serve a wide selection of beverages. Whether guests desire classic cocktails, cold beers, or creamy milkshakes, the bar is well stocked to refresh and satisfy all tastes. Its relaxed ambiance makes it the perfect place to unwind and share stories after a day exploring the bush.
